coffee & gelato snob sports addict travel enthusiast
why did I start this blog? basically I needed something to do whilst traveling, to not just travel for the sake of traveling and avoid turning into a beach bum what this turns into, time will tell. I don't want to write about everything and nothing, so I decided to focus on two of my biggest passions, which I guess a lot of people do when blogging..
my biggest passions and arguably also weakness are good coffee and gelato. many people who know me might be surprised to have now not read sport and travel. sport is more than a passion, it's been my life, football since the age I could walk, two sport related degrees, always working for sport companies.. and travel will always be part of my life, having lived in 6 countries so far, or 8 if I include greece and south africa.
some people might wonder where the "balls" come from. balls of ice cream.. some of you will surely now say that it's scoops and not balls. well you people.. I don't like the sound of scoops'n'beans, plus for a long time I lived somewhere, where one ordered baellchen (little balls) of ice cream.
with being based in zurich, I will always be interested in the latest coffee and gelato developments in zurich and the surrounding area. london, athens and cape town will also always be dear to my heart, but with traveling to germany and italy regularly and constantly trying to visit new countries and cities I am keen to hear of must visit coffee and gelato locations everywhere.

not too long ago I was lucky enough to afford to have some time off to travel and was on a kind of coffee sabbatical, mainly visiting coffee producing countries, costa rica, colombia, panama, mexico, tanzania and the dominican republic. on top of that I decided to return to one of the world's most beautiful cities, cape town, where I spent three months. maybe I will leave cold Zurich again some day to setup my "winter" base in the mother city again, allowing me to enjoy the things which are close to my heart, hanging out at the vast number of great coffee shops, enjoying authentic italian gelato and playing beach volleyball.
